Online Mixing and Mastering

Getting your song mixed and mastered to industry standard is important. A substandard mix can be a roadblock to your success as a musician. Having a higher quality sound will lead to more streams, awareness, and sales. Getting a professional sounding song requires an experienced ear, and a lot of expensive gear/software creating a high barrier of entry. That’s where SAD shines - We have the resources to serve any artists’ dreams.

Why Pay an Audio Engineer?

  • Mixing and mastering engineers spend years honing their ear, which in turn brings your projects to mainstream requirements while staying faithful to your vision. A proper mix takes hours to execute, and as an artist you should have the option to allocate that stress to a professional and thereby spend more time excelling your craft. Full and diverse imaging options (multiple stereo monitors) as well as a properly treated environment is critical in achieving a Hollywood grade production. We’ve built our studio ground up to assure each of these requirements are masterfully checked. We use rare and time tested digital/analog gear (ex. UA 1176, Lexicon PCM 80) to achieve the same results that have brought legends into studios for decades.

  • Just as image processing requires color balance, audio requires frequency and gain (volume) balance. Simply put, every instrument/vocal in a track should be carefully considered and intentionally processed to fit cohesively with the rest of the audio information. We call this sonic real estate, and case in point is that every sound should have its own place. There are industry standard mixes by genre, therefor coupling that knowledge with trained audio engineers will guarantee your mix sounds pleasing on all speaker systems/environments.

  • If your track is a gift and the mix is its wrapping paper, the master is the bow you throw on top to complete the package. Mastering is the process of finalizing the mix in such a way that it’s overall loudness/tonal balance (sonic real estate) is consistent with industry standard and streaming platform requirements. If your project was adequately mixed but left without a master, it will sound much quieter/”flatter” than your favorite tracks when played side by side.

  • With years of experience, a perfectly treated environment, multiple monitoring options (subwoofers, Auratone 5C, HS8 Beyerdynamic 99DT Pro, etc.) , a wide array of digital/analog processing options to break creative limitations presented by minimal options, an up to date and intensive computing system which can handle the at times extremely stressing programs, and another equally as experienced friend/engineer to rely on as a fresh set of ears - of course you can. But you’re an artist, right? Let us take that weight off your shoulders.

  • Auto Tune automatically tunes. We got that. However, oftentimes relying on a program to dictate where your pitch should head results in an inhuman sound. That’s where we come in. Our on site engineers use Melodyne to manually tune every single word you record in such a way that nobody would know tuning was used at all. It may sound inauthentic, but you’d be hard pressed to discover even one radio ready production that goes without its use. The masters are cool with it. We can even fix rhythmic errors by independently shifting where words fall on beat. This process takes hours. Furthermore, we can tune instruments polyphonically that you’ve recorded and realized lately aren’t in tune. We got you.

  • Recording at home while the vacuum is on? We got you. Mic picking up traffic in your perfect take? We also got you. With machine learning technology and a suite of plugins tailored to removing irritating noise floors your microphone can’t avoid picking up, with some effort we can make your recording sound almost as if it was recorded in our studio!
